saw one like it at Hatley castle labeled as "Sinde shojo" BUT Sinde shojo as far as I can tell has green growth and only in early spring is the new growth green.....I am also intrigued and would like to find the name of this variety! Lou
I am about 97&1/2% sure that this is an Acer Palmatum Atropurpurem. I spent over 3&1/2 hours searching on 4 different phones with a few magnifying glasses comparing a bunch of similar looking trees till I narrowed it down to these 3: 1)The Acer Palmatum Atropurpurem 2) The Acer Palmatum Fireglow 3) The Acer Palmatum Osakazuki Then I spent about another 4 hours or so researching each one from the thickness of trunk & branches to shape of leaves to the patterns of which way the branches grow & all that stuff(my husband thought I was going crazy on him lol) till I came to the conclusion it was the.... ~Acer Palmatum Atropurpurem~ All because the minute I saw a picture of this absolutely beautiful & stunning Pink Japanese Maple on Pinterest so I took a picture of it & searched for it on Google Lens & found only this article but I had to find out what the name of the tree was.
